Description

The war memorial, unveiled in 1922 by James Henry Sellers, features two bronze sculptures by the artist John Cassidy. It is made of white stone and has a complex moulded plinth with eight unequal sides, which includes both concave and convex lines. The plinth displays bronze plaques with names and a carved inscription. At the front, there is a raised section that supports a kneeling bronze figure breaking a sword over its knee. Behind this figure is a tall column with a hollow-sided triangular section, topped with a bronze figure of winged victory holding a garland aloft.
