Description
Poplar Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 18th century, with a mid to late 19th-century addition. It is constructed of red-brown brick in English bond and has a cement tile roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays, plus an added bay on the right side. The central entrance features a 20th-century door set within a doorcase that has pilasters and a modillioned cornice. The windows throughout are 4-pane sashes with flush wood architraves; those on the ground floor have segmental stretcher arches and all windows have projecting stone sills. The window jambs and the corners of the main range are highlighted with darker red-blue bricks. There is a projecting band at the first floor and a dentilled cornice at the eaves. The original range has end stacks. On the left side, there is a deeply recessed 20th-century doorway and two small windows on both the ground and first floors, with tumbled-in brickwork on the raised gables.
