Description

Nos. 1 and 2, Victoria Place, date from 1811. They are brick buildings with stone rusticated quoins, constructed over three storeys and attics. The roofline features three flat-topped dormers with casements. A stone band runs along the second-floor cills. The building originally had four windows, with the central ones blocked and painted to resemble stone flat arches. The paired central windows retain double-hung sashes with glazing bars; the outer windows also have double-hung sashes with glazing bars. A basement storey in stone features two single windows with modern sashes. No. 1 has a narrow, additional window. Steps lead to six-fielded doors, each with a paired rectangular fanlight and a single stone lintel. A single window with a flat arch and double-hung sash with glazing bars is located on the ground floor. A string course runs at floor level, while five-panel doors are situated below the main steps. Brick chimneys are visible at the gable ends.
