Description

This is a headstone for Ann Hogg located in a Quaker burial ground, dated 1671. It is made of gritstone and consists of a single block that stands approximately 50 centimetres high, with a circular shape on a slightly shouldered base. The inscription is well cut in capitals and reads: "ANN / THE WIFE OF / MATHEW HOGG / DEPARTED THIS LIFE / THE TENTH DAY OF / THE TENTH MONTH IN / THE (YEAR) 1671." The headstone is situated approximately 10 metres from the east wall and 15 metres from the south wall of the burial ground.
