Description
North Otterington House is a house built in the late 18th century with early 19th-century outer bays. It features red brick in Flemish bond and has a graduated stone slate roof. The building is two and three storeys high and consists of five bays, with the outer bays set forward and rising to three storeys. There is a contemporary service wing at a right angle to the house on the left-hand side.
The house has a plinth and three stone steps leading up to a central six-panel door, which is topped by a fanlight with Gothick glazing bars. This door is framed by a Roman Doric surround, consisting of two half columns flanked by pilasters, with an impost band that supports a frieze, cornice, and pediment. The windows are 16-pane sashes with flat brick arches and continuous stone sill bands. On the second floor of the left bay, there is an unequally-hung 12-pane sash, while the right bay features a 12-pane side-sliding sash, both with stone sills and flat brick arches. The roof has ridge stacks.
At the rear, there is a doorway that mirrors the front entrance, with three steps leading up to a six-panel door beneath a blind fanlight, framed by Ionic columns, a frieze, and a cornice.
