Description
The Welcome Inn with attached stable and barn is an 18th-century building, with a date stone inscribed "1781 Wharton" on an ornamental metal plaque. Originally a public house, it is now a private residence but still retains its name. The structure features scored stucco over stone, an old slate roof, and stone chimneys, and it stands two storeys tall.
The building has a low doorway, which is set in a chamfered stone opening and features an inscribed lintel and an iron plaque above. There are two double sash windows on the ground floor with chamfered stone mullions, a centrally blocked window, and two additional windows on the upper floor. An extension to the north includes a sash window on the ground floor and two horizontal sliding sashes above. At the rear, there is a stone roof. The stable and barn are made of red sandstone and include arrow slits.
