Description
The gatehouse range to the south of Haile Hall is a service range and cottage dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with ashlar dressings and features slate roofs, forming an L-plan. The south elevation includes a central two-storey bay with a segmental-arched through passage and coped gables. The windows are fitted with leaded glazing, including two small lights to the west, an entrance, and a sashed window at the end, along with three windows to the east, the end one being a two-light window next to the entrance. Above the entrance is a panel displaying an armorial bearing, below a two-light window with an attic light above it, and there is a weather vane on the ridge. A gable-end stack is present. The west elevation features a lean-to outshut and a projecting gabled structure with an ogee window opening, along with a first-floor entrance and pigeon openings. The north elevation has a blocked chamfered entrance and a first-floor entrance accessed by steps, which includes a pegged door and a two-light window. Adjacent to the east elevation are large windows with leaded glazing.
