Description

Haile Hall is a large house with a north range that features a dated lintel reading "SP 1591 AP" (Ponsonby). The building was extended to the south in the 17th century and early 18th century. It is constructed of roughcast stone with ashlar dressings and has slate roofs. The house is three storeys high, with the south elevation consisting of five bays. There is a dripstone over the ground floor.

The windows have moulded reveals; those on the ground floor are 6-pane sashes, while the first floor features 12-pane sashes, and the second floor has small-paned horizontally sliding sashes. The central entrance is marked by applied turned posts on the jambs and a studded door. The gable-end stacks have strings and cornices, with the eastern return stack projecting.

The west elevation has four gabled bays, with the inner bays being narrower. It features single-chamfered mullioned windows with label moulds, consisting of two lights in the first three bays, with transoms on the first floor. The glazing is either small-paned or leaded. The second floor has transoms in the second and third bays, while the fourth bay has a two-light transomed window on the ground floor and a Venetian window with sashed windows and glazing bars on the first floor, likely from the early 19th century.

The north elevation has four bays. The ground floor includes a long window with a label mould and small-paned fixed glazing, a casement in chamfered reveals, and two windows of two lights. The first floor has sashed windows and one mullioned and transomed window. The second floor features a casement, a horizontally sliding sash, a leaded window, and a window with small-paned fixed glazing. The entrance to the second bay has a sunk triangular head and a dated lintel under a canopy, along with a bellcote.

The east elevation has a recessed bay with varied fenestration, mostly consisting of two-light windows, and an irregular canted re-entrant bay. Inside, the hall and spiral stair are adorned with panelling.
