Description

The Burton Memorial, built in 1908, is a Grade II listed structure located in the Market Place. It is designed in the Gothic style and constructed from ashlar stone. The memorial features a central pillar that includes drinking fountains and is divided into three stages. The lowest stage has four pointed arches, while the upper stage displays four and eight dummy arches, along with four traceried sections and eight flying buttresses topped with small crocketed pinnacles. The central pillar culminates in a large crocketed pinnacle and rests on a stepped base. Additionally, there are a pair of inscribed bronze tablets on the memorial.
