Description
Kirby Grounds Farmhouse and the attached outbuilding is a farmhouse that dates from the late 18th century, with origins in the 17th century. It is built of coursed squared ironstone and has slate roofs with brick end stacks. The building is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys plus an attic. The main front faces the garden and features a central part-glazed door with a wood lintel, flanked by two-storey 19th-century canted bay windows. The structure has quoins and chamfered stone eaves. To the right, there is a lower two-storey wing and an outbuilding range that includes a two-light ground floor window, a six-pane sash window on the first floor, and a 20th-century two-light casement window on the first floor right, all with wood lintels. The roof is half-hipped to the right. On the left side, there is a two-light old leaded casement with a wood lintel, and an oriel window with crown glass supported by a moulded stone, facing the yard, which also features a two-light leaded casement. Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered spine beams.
