Description
Cottons Farmhouse and the attached outbuildings to the rear are a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century. The building is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and features a Collyweston slate roof, while the outbuilding has a part thatched roof. The farmhouse originally had a two-unit plan and is two storeys high with an attic. It has a five-window range of 17th-century two-light stone mullion windows on the first floor, with casements under wood lintels at the ground floor. The central panelled door is framed by moulded stone and eared architraves. To the left of the door, there is a single light window with a moulded stone surround. The house features a pair of hipped roof dormers, ashlar gable parapets, and ashlar stacks with cornices at the ends. The left gable includes a single-light window and a circular attic window, both with moulded stone surrounds. There is an 18th-century wing at the rear, which has a 19th-century lean-to attached, along with 18th-century outbuildings connected to the rear. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to have chamfered ceiling beams.
