Description

This is a house dating originally from the 16th century, later divided into two and extended. It is roughly two storeys high and built of roughly coursed rubble. The roof is steeply pitched and covered in Welsh slate, with two later, pedimented dormers on the earlier part, and a wide, flat verge with a ball finial on the north gable. The building is five windows wide, with a two-storey gabled porch in the centre, containing one window. The ground floor has been built out to align with the porch. The outer doorway has a square head with two piers encased in 19th-century wood panelling, while the inner doorway has a four-centred arched head. All windows have moulded wooden architraves. The first floor has two late casement windows and a small sash window in the porch, and two larger sashes to the south. The sash windows are hung with a small top section. The ground floor windows comprise three-light sashes to the north of the centre, a late single-light window on the other side, and a doorway leading to the later extension. The porch is rendered on the first floor. The extension to the south end is rendered, with one flat-topped dormer. It contains two hung sash windows to the first floor and a cut-out garage on the ground floor. A modern two-storey extension is present to the right. The building forms a group with the other listed buildings in Market Place.
