Description
No 7 Castle Street is a Grade II* listed building, originally shown as premises adjoining and immediately east of No 5. It features an 18th-century front attached to an earlier structure. The building is constructed of vitreous bricks with red brick dressings and stands two storeys high, topped with a hipped roof covered in old tiles. The upper floor has two flush set sash windows with side lights and glazing bars. The ground floor contains two modern shops, each with cornices. The right-hand side has two small upper casement windows and a central chimney stack with an offset head. The east gable is timber framed with red brick nogging, while the north gable is plastered. Inside, there is a crown post roof, likely from the 14th century, along with remnants of a plastered smoke bay. No 7 Castle Street, along with Priory House Annexe and Nos 1 to 7 (odd), form a group.
