Description

The Annexe to Priory House dates from the mid-19th century, with a possible earlier rear wing. The front facade is built of grey brick with red brick detailing, and has an old tiled roof. It is two storeys high, featuring a sash window with hexagonal glazing bars on the first floor. The rear wing has also been refaced in brick, and may date from the 16th or 17th century; it contains four sash windows with glazing bars set within their original reveals. The building lacks cornices and has tall fascias to the modern shop windows. A corner of the ground floor has been cut away, and the first floor is supported by two painted metal columns. The Annexe is part of a group with Priory House and numbers 1 to 7 (odd) on Castle Street.
