Description
The water tower at Dropmore Estate, dated 1900, is a Grade II listed building located on Heathfield Road in Taplow. Designed in a Gothic style, it is constructed of red brick with stone dressings, reinforced by iron girders, and features white brick on the interior. The roof is hidden by a cornice. The structure stands three storeys tall and has one window. It has a projecting cornice and a plinth, although much of the exterior is obscured by climbing plants. The main south front showcases large Diocletian windows on the second floor, a tripartite window on the first floor, and a round-headed arched doorcase on the ground floor, which contains a plank door with intricate ironwork. The east elevation features rectangular window openings and a narrow door.
Inside, the ground floor retains an original chequerwork floor, along with exposed iron girders and a column topped with a foliated capital. The first floor houses a large square cast iron water tank, while the second floor is devoid of equipment. This tower served as the estate water tower for the Dropmore estate.
