Description
Cornerstones and Laburnham Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with a 19th-century addition on the left. They are timber framed with plastered infill sitting on a rubblestone plinth. The left bay is constructed of rubblestone with brick dressings, and there is a brick lean-to on the left with an old tile roof. The main roof is covered with concrete pantiles. The cottages have four bays and two storeys.
The second bay from the left features an off-centre glazed door. The two left bays, known as Cornerstones, have two-light casement windows, while the upper floor windows are horizontal sliding sashes. The right-hand two bays, referred to as Laburnham Cottage, have three-light casement windows on the ground floor, with the first floor containing two two-light casements in the third bay and one two-light casement in the right bay.
There are stacks located between the middle bays and at the gables, with the right-hand stack having a rubblestone base and offsets. Inside, the cottages feature an inglenook fireplace and stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
