Description

This is a building of terraced houses at 20-28 Whielden Street, Amersham. The front of the building was renewed in the 19th century, although it likely incorporates an earlier structure, possibly dating back to the 17th century. The front elevation is rendered and colourwashed, with an old tile roof that is hipped at each end. A 19th-century shop front is present on the left-hand side, featuring pilasters and slender colonettes with shallow arched heads, as well as a recessed doorway. To the right are two doors and two four-light casement windows. The first floor has six modern casement windows. A parallel rear range extends to the back of the house, with a gable facing south. There are three gabled dormers in the rear roof slope, and a central gable showcasing timber framing and a very large projecting chimney.
