Description

Maltmas Green is a house dated 1700, though significantly altered in the early 20th century. It presents a garden elevation and is constructed of dark red brick with an old tile roof. The house has two gables, each with brick copings and lunettes. It is two storeys high. The central section features two modern bay windows spanning both floors. To the left, the first and ground floors have four-light casement windows with transoms and leaded lights. The right-hand side has five-light casement windows on both floors, also with transoms. A central staircase window, featuring a mullion and two wooden transoms above a leaded-glass entrance door within a timber frame, is prominent. The right-hand section is two storeys high with a hipped, pointed roof. A first-floor window projects into the roof, featuring a brick gable with a lunette and overhanging eaves. The ground floor of this section contains a single four-light casement with a transom. The left-hand section exhibits 17th-century timber framing with brick nogging and has been restored. It is two storeys high, with two three-light casement windows on the first floor and an entrance door and one casement on the ground floor, beneath a gable end. A further wing, two storeys and with a side gable, features a single three-light window on the first floor and two small bays with flat roofs on the ground floor.
