Description

The Sycamores is an 18th-century house that was altered in the 19th century. The main façade faces south towards the River Thames. It is a brick building of three bays, although the outer bays feature full-height canted windows of the late 19th century which do not harmonise with the original design. The central doorway likely dates back to the 18th century and has six fielded panels and a decorative fanlight above. A stone porch with Ionic columns has been added to the front. The roof is covered in slate, with a half-hipped section. The western side of the house acts as a second front, divided into two sections, suggesting that the northern part may have been built later. The house has five windows with glazing bars. A verandah is present on the ground floor to the right, and a modern entrance in a suitable style is located on the left. The slate roof continues to the western side, with the northern section being half hipped.
