Description
The Dalrymple Monument, dating from the 18th century, is a chest tomb with attached railings located to the northeast of the chancel of the Church of St Mary. This monument was created for the Dalrymple family and features an ashlar tomb with iron railings. The rectangular podium supports a railed enclosure that contains a large chest tomb on a plinth. The chest is adorned with fluted angle pilasters and decorative incised panels on the sides and ends, with the side panels displaying commemorative inscriptions. The lid of the chest has a moulded edge. The railings consist of spiked bars and standards topped with urn finials. This monument is a notable example of 18th-century churchyard architecture.
