Description

Summer Cottage is a house dating back to the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the early 19th century and 20th century. The exterior is colourwashed render with an early 19th-century moulded bressumer. It has an old tile roof and an L-shaped plan, including a narrow extension to the left and a lean-to at the rear. The house is two storeys high and has three bays. The ground floor windows are leaded casements in early 19th-century wooden frames, with a two-light window on either side of a three-light window. The upper storey has 20th-century paired barred wooden casements in matching frames. A half-glazed door, also from the early 19th century, is situated between the left bays, now with later leaded glazing, and is sheltered by a wooden cornice hood. A single-storey extension of flint and brick is located at the rear. The interior retains some timber framing, exhibiting curved bracing and wind-braces.
