Description

Greenwell is a farmhouse with an attached cottage, likely built in the early 18th century and altered over time. The structure is made of white-washed rubble with large quoins and features a stone slate roof. It has a wide, single-depth, two-unit plan, along with a one-unit cottage on the left end and an added outshut at the rear.

The exterior consists of two low storeys and has a total of five windows, arranged as one window on the left and two pairs of windows on the right. The main range includes a stone slate dripcourse on the right half, a square-headed doorway that is offset to the left and protected by a 20th-century gabled wooden porch. On the ground floor, there are two small-paned windows to the left and two six-pane sash windows to the right. The first floor features two widely-separated pairs of four-pane sashes. A gable chimney is located on the left, and a low square chimney is situated at the junction with the cottage. The cottage itself has a doorway at the junction, a small six-pane sash window to the left, a four-pane sash window above, and a gable chimney.

Inside, there is a through-passage with stone walls on each side, leading to the housepart on the left and the parlour on the right. The staircase is located in the parlour but is accessed through a doorway near the front of the passage, which has a fielded panel door. The housepart features two chamfered lateral beams, with the beam closer to the chimney-breast having bearers from a former smoke-hood and previously housing a beef-box above. The fireplace is fitted with a 20th-century stove, and there is a built-in cupboard with fielded panels to the left of the chimney-breast. The parlour once contained a "bed-cupboard," but the doors for this are now located in the added back kitchen.
