Description
Beamsley Mill is a mill that has been converted into stores and an attached house, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar and rubblestone with a graduated stone slate roof. The building stands three storeys high and has three bays, with a lower two-storey wing on the left side.
The mill features a double board door with a segmental arch supported by voussoirs. To the right, there is another board door, and above the large door, there is yet another board door. All the windows are 20th-century casements set in plain stone surrounds, and the upper two storeys of the right-hand bay are set back approximately three metres. The two-storey wing has board doors to the right of both the left and right bays, with 20th-century casements positioned between and above. To the right, there is a wheel chamber with a small board opening and pigeon holes above.
Inside, there are no remaining mill workings, except for an overshot iron wheel that is approximately 8 metres in diameter.
