Description

This is a group of buildings comprising numbers 40 to 44 Bridge Street, dating to the 17th century and subsequently altered. The buildings have pantile roofs and one section features a first-floor band. Notable original features include one large framed casement window at the front and one at the rear. Other windows include one flush frame sash window with glazing bars and a blank panel, alongside three casement windows. Ground-floor doors and windows are set within cambered arches. A further flush frame sash window with glazing bars is present on the left side of the first floor. The doors are now 4-panel doors. Number 40 has a re-faced front, constructed with grey brick featuring gauged flat arches. This building also incorporates flush frame sash windows with glazing bars on each floor, and a flush frame cambered headed entrance door. Numbers 2, 4, 6A, 12 to 20 (even), 24 to 34 (even), 48 and 50 also form part of a larger group.
