Description

The Monument is a folly or tower that serves as a lodge for Petworth Park. It was likely originally a verderer's lookout and dates from the late 18th century. The structure is a square tower with three storeys, featuring a taller octagonal staircase turret in the southeast corner. It is constructed of ashlar and has a castellated parapet. The tower includes sash windows with rounded heads and glazing bars, with one window on each front.
