Description

The Singleton War Memorial is a First World War memorial, with an unknown designer, that later had the names of those who fell in the Second World War added. It is made of limestone and stands on a low grassy mound at the eastern boundary of the churchyard. The memorial features a tall wheel cross with a sword carved in relief on its front face. The shaft of the cross rises from a two-tier plinth set on a two-stepped base. The inscription on the front face of the lower plinth reads, "IN MEMORY OF THE MEN/ OF THIS PARISH WHO FELL/ IN THE GREAT WARS/ 1914 - 1918/ 1939 - 1945/ THEIR GLORY LIVETH FOR EVERMORE." The names of the fallen are inscribed on the sides of the plinth.
