Description
This is a barn located approximately 30 metres north-east of Hesworth Farmhouse. It dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century and has been restored in the 20th century. Attached to the east is a cartshed from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The barn is timber framed and clad in weatherboarding, featuring a hipped tiled roof and a pentice on the west side. It has a central cart entrance, while the south end includes 20th-century windows and a door. Inside, the barn has three bays and an aisle to the west, with jowled posts that have a cut profile, and three posts made of rough hewn timbers. There are both diagonal and curved tension braces present. The roof features angled queen posts with through purlins, and the rafters are intact without a ridgepiece. A 20th-century floor has been inserted at the south end. The adjoining cartshed to the east has an open design with a stone and brick wall at the rear. Its posts also have a cut profile and rest on padstones, while the roofs include angled queen struts and a ridgepiece.
