Description
The Round House, located opposite Ashcombe House on Brighton Road in Lewes, is a small, round building dating from the 18th century. It resembles a lock-up but was actually one of two toll cottages; the other cottage on the north side of the Brighton-Lewes road has been demolished. The structure is made of red brick and features a cornice, blocking course, and a domed roof, although it has since been covered in stucco. The windows are currently blocked. This building was illustrated in its original condition in Horsfield's History of the Environs of Lewes.
