Description
Fitzleroi Farmhouse is a house built in 1623 by Francis Dawtrey, with this date inscribed on it. The house has two storeys and features four windows. It is constructed of stone rubble with red brick dressings and quoins, topped by a tiled roof. At the north end of the front, there are two gables adorned with ball finials. The northern gable displays a cartouche of the Dawtrey family, a notable family from Petworth, along with a ball finial at both the outer angle and the apex of the gable. The other gable has a blocked attic window. There is one original casement window with a stone mullion, while the remaining windows are sash windows that retain their glazing bars. The stone doorway has a depressed pointed head. A 19th-century parallel wing has been added to the rear of the house.
