Description

Budgenor Lodge, originally a Midhurst Union workhouse, likely dates to after the Poor Law Act of 1834, although it has an 18th-century appearance. The main building faces east and is constructed of uncoursed stone with red brick dressings, quoins, and a dentilled eaves cornice, with the stone set in galletting. The roof is tiled and hipped, with intact glazing bars. A three-window addition has been made to the north side of the ground floor. A later balcony is present on the third floor, facing south. The building is three storeys high and has five windows on its principal facade. Long wings extend at right angles to the main block, forming three sides of an enclosed courtyard.
