Description
Oak Cottage, Derwent Cottage, Knowle Cottage, and Mill Cottage are a range of four houses that were originally farm outbuildings, built around 1800. They are constructed from coursed rubble gritstone with ashlar dressings and feature a hipped roof covered with Welsh and stone slates. The buildings form an 'L' shaped range that encloses a paved courtyard.
The southeast elevation is two storeys high and consists of four bays. There is an off-centre former full height opening with a segmental arched head, which is now blocked with coursed stone and has a shallow 20th-century window frame with glazing bars at the arch head. On the ground floor, there are two two-light mullioned windows, while the first floor has three former pitching eyes, all of which now contain 20th-century glazing.
These cottages are listed for their group value.
