Description

Holystone Grange is a house dating from the early 19th century, with later additions from 1897. The later work was designed by and for F.W. Rich. It is constructed of ashlar with Welsh and Lakeland slate roofs.

The house is two storeys high and has six bays. The original three-bay section is located on the right side, with later additions to the left and rear, creating a large, irregular-plan house. The additions are in a Tudor style.

The earlier section features a central glazed door within a conservatory, flanked by two-storey canted bay windows containing 16-pane sashes. The later section has large mullioned-and-transomed windows with small leaded panes.

The older parts of the roof have a plain parapet and gabled roofs. The later additions include two cross gables above the garden front and irregular gabled roofs elsewhere. There are numerous tall, corniced stacks.
