Description

The garden balustrade, steps, and urns located south and southeast of Holystone Grange are a notable feature originally installed at Haggerston Castle by the architect Norman Shaw between 1889 and 1893. These elements were moved to their current location in 1933 when Haggerston Castle was demolished. The balustrade is constructed from ashlar and showcases an extensive and complex arrangement of terraces. It includes urn balusters, slightly-rounded coping, and frequent square corniced piers. The balustrade is interrupted on the south side by six large urns adorned with festoons.
