Description

This is a pair of headstones made of sandstone, located approximately 20 yards south of the Church of St. Cuthbert. One headstone commemorates Hannah Ord and dates from 1754. It stands about 4 feet high and features a shaped top with an angel. The rear of this headstone displays a high-relief carving of a skull and crossbones. The second, more worn headstone on the left also has a high-relief carving on its rear, depicting a bag of bones with a skull above it, and a winged hourglass above that.
