Description
The stable block, built around 1885 for Mr. Morrison Bell, is located approximately 20 yards west of Highgreen Manor. It incorporates the walls of mid-19th century farm buildings and is constructed from rock-faced stone with Welsh slate roofs, forming an L-plan group.
On the right, there are gable ends of two stable blocks connected by a lean-to loggia featuring two segmental arches. The left block has a small three-light window on the ground floor, with a round-arched dovecote entry above. The right block includes a boarded stable door within the loggia, and above it, a three-light window with a blocked center light that is carved with a bell. Both blocks have gabled roofs with hollow-chamfered coping.
To the left, there is a single-storey, three-bay cartshed that projects outwards. It has two segmental arches on the right with boarded double doors, and a boarded double door in the left bay. The cartshed has a gabled roof with flat coping and a square corniced end stack.
