Description
The outbuildings located approximately 30 metres south of Bransdale Mill consist of a cart-shed, stable, and byres with lofts above. They were built in the late 18th century and extended in 1817 for William Strickland. The original structure features tooled sandstone, while the rear has squared sandstone, and the extension is made of herringbone-tooled sandstone. The roof is covered with pantiles.
The building is a single-storey, four-bay range on the right side, with a 1½-storey extension on the left. The doorways leading to the stable and byres have timber lintels. On the left side, there are square shuttered pitching holes with roughly herringbone-tooled lintels. The left gable wall includes a flat cart arch supported by heavy timber lintels, with a lifting door above it. A kneeler on this wall is inscribed with "WS Miller 1817." The right gable wall features a datestone inscribed with "WS," although the date is indecipherable. At the time of resurvey, the building was in a dilapidated condition. It is included for its group value.
