Description
These barns and byres, located to the north-west of Low Garth and Crag View, date from the late 18th century, with some elements from the mid-18th century. They are constructed of whitewashed rubble with flush red sandstone quoins and feature a graduated greenslate roof. The buildings are two storeys high and have a long axis with short side wings, creating an overall cross shape. The front includes plank doors and a segmental cart doorway framed in red sandstone. There are casement windows and vents set in stone surrounds. The side wall features additional plank doors and blocked two-light flat stone mullioned windows, which are similar to those found at the rear of the farmhouse. These structures are listed for their group value with Low Garth and Crag View.
