Description
Cunswick Hall is a house, primarily from the 19th century, built on the site of an earlier house that belonged to the Leyburn family until the 18th century. Remnants of the earlier structure include fragments of wall and a 16th-century two-light stone mullioned window, which is said to contain the oldest glass in Westmorland. The building features rubble walls and a slate roof with stone ridge tiles. There are end chimney stacks on the south wing, while the north wing has a large external stack on the west side and a small central stack. The house is two storeys high and has a six-panelled door with a rectangular glazed fanlight set in a chamfered stone surround. To the left of the door are two sash windows, with one sash window to the right, and three sash windows above, all featuring glazing bars.
