Description

This building is a barn located about 20 meters east of Burrow Farmhouse. It dates back to the 15th century and has been altered and enlarged, likely in the 18th century. The structure is rendered over cob and rubble, featuring a steeply pitched corrugated iron roof that extends as a catslide over an addition.

The barn has a plan consisting of five bays with a central lean-to addition on the facade. It may have originally been two stories at either end, with a central open hall and linking gallery, but it has been significantly altered, and only the northeast end remains two stories. The building has two stories, with a small window opening on the first floor to the left of a full-height raking buttress, and a window opening below it. The original entrance is to the right, leading to a lean-to addition with double doors typical of a threshing barn, which has a pentice hood porch. There is also a first-floor window to the right and a door beyond.

On the left return gable end, there is a wooden four-light trefoil-headed mullioned window, and a similar window on the rear elevation has four trefoiled heads but only two mullions, which are much eroded. Additionally, there is a two-light octagonal mullioned window at the rear and a similar four-light window in the right gable end.

Inside, the barn features five bays with two and a half pairs of smoke-blackened jointed cruck trusses. There is a plank and muntin screen with a shouldered and chamfered doorway, a blocked rear entrance to the screens passage, and inserted double doors of the threshing barn at the lower end.
