Description
The Coach House and Stables, located to the north of Black Street House, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with large dressed quoins and granite ashlar voussoirs, topped with a slate roof. The building features a range that includes a coach house and stables, with haylofts above, facing east and slightly set back from the front of Black Street House.
On the left end, there is a narrow doorway leading to the tack room, while the adjacent doorway has been enlarged for a 20th-century garage. There are three stable doors, although the outer two have been converted into windows. At the right end, there are three larger blocked doorways that lead to the coach house, all of which have low segmental-arched heads. Above these doorways, there are four windows, with the two larger ones being converted hayloft loading hatches. The roof is gable-ended, and the interior features plain carpentry detail.
