Description
The Vicarage Gatehouse, dating from the early 19th century and possibly earlier, features roughcast solid walls and a slated roof topped with late 19th century blue glazed ridge-tiles. It stands two storeys high, with the gateway positioned to the right, extending through both storeys. The street-facing elevation is windowless, showcasing a tall flat-headed gate framed in wood with light ogee and bead mouldings. There are a pair of plank gates, each fitted with three strap hinges, and the right-hand gate includes a small, round-headed wicket gate. Inside the gate, to the left, there is a plank door with a tethering ring attached to its frame, and above it, another plank door with strap hinges provides access to the upper storey. The rear wall, which faces the vicarage, features a long, narrow window with a wood frame containing four panes arranged in a row, and to the right, there is a plank door with strap hinges. The listing also includes the high rubble wall that runs east from the gatehouse, bordering the Vicarage grounds on the north and east sides. The gatehouse and wall are significant as part of an important group with the adjacent barn, now the Village Hall, and the Vicarage.
