Description

This barn, located approximately 40 metres east of Preston Farmhouse, is likely from the 18th century. It is constructed of plastered cob on stone rubble footings and features a thatched roof. The barn is oriented on a north-south axis and has large opposing doorways leading to the threshing floor, each flanked by short projecting midstrey walls. The roof is hipped at both ends. Although the interior was not inspected, this barn is notable as an unusual example of a traditional Devon farm building that retains its thatched roof. It is also part of a group with the nearby Preston Farmhouse.
