Description

Fingle Bridge is a road bridge dating from the early 17th century, with partial rebuilding completed in 1809. It is constructed from coursed blocks of granite, featuring ashlar voussoirs and coping.

The bridge consists of three spans, each with a segmental arch that springs from vertical abutments and piers. The two piers have pointed cutwaters that rise to the parapet, which is stepped out to create refuges. The stone rubble parapet stands 0.8 meters high and is topped with ashlar coping stones that have rounded tops. The carriageway is 2 meters wide and ramps towards the middle.
