Description
This barn, located approximately 3 metres north-west of Mount Pleasant Farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century. It is constructed from granite stone rubble and features large, roughly-shaped quoins, topped with a corrugated iron roof that was originally thatch. The barn is relatively small and is oriented to the south, built across a gentle slope. It has gable ends and full-height doorways on the opposing sides that lead to the threshing floor, both of which contain plain 19th and 20th-century doors. The rear doorway has been reduced in size. There is a low flight of stone steps leading to the front doorway, and a secondary lean-to pig sty is situated to the right of the front door. Inside, the barn is open to the roof, which has a 20th-century replacement structure but incorporates some lengths of 17th-century timber. The barn, along with the nearby farmhouse, creates an attractive group with several other listed buildings in the hamlet.
