Description

Butterwell is a structure dating from the 19th century, possibly earlier. It is constructed from large, roughly-shaped granite slabs and has a box-like form, standing approximately 750 millimeters high. The sides and flat roof are made from single pieces of granite. The north-east side, which faces the road, is open at the bottom, featuring a ledge across the front where water from the spring flows underneath. There is no evidence of any shelves inside, and a doorway is located at the front.
