Description
The building is a coach house and stable located at the rear east corner of Whiddonpark House, likely dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is primarily constructed of cob and granite stone rubble, with the rear side facing the house made entirely of stone rubble; some areas are plastered, and it has a thatched roof. The structure is oriented to face north-west, with the coach house on the left end featuring large double doors. The stables have a doorway with a vertically opening casement that includes glazing bars, as well as a hayloft loading hatch. The roof has a gable end on the left and is half-hipped on the right, where there is also a blocked hayloft loading hatch. Inside, there is plain carpentry detail, including a 6-bay roof supported by A-frame trusses with pegged and spiked lap-jointed collars, some of which have slightly curving collars. The stable stalls remain intact.
