Description
The Hart Chest Tomb, located in St Michael's Churchyard about 7 metres southeast of the southeast corner of the chancel, dates from 1643. It is made of granite and consists of three pieces. The north and south faces feature carved inscriptions in bold lettering. The inscription on the south side commemorates George Hart, who was buried on 2 March 1642 (which is 1643 in modern dating). The tomb has a flat-topped capstone with chamfered edges, and there is no inscription on the top.
