Description
Foxworthy Bridge is a farm track bridge leading to Foxworthy over the River Bovey. It possibly dates back to medieval times, with several rebuilds, the most recent being a widening on the upstream (north) side, which is believed to have occurred in the early 20th century. The bridge is constructed from large granite rubble stone, incorporating river boulders and roughly-hewn granite lintels. It features two spans, with the main channel having shifted through the bank on the west side, making the main spans primarily serve as flood arches. The granite piers are made from river boulders, some of which are massive, and the lintels resemble a clapper bridge, complemented by low parapets made of rough granite rubble.
