Description

The Robert Smith monument is a chest tomb located approximately 15 metres east of the Banaster monument in Tewkesbury's Abbey Churchyard. It dates from 1780 and is made of sandstone. The tomb features a flat ledger with moulded edges, raised panels on the long sides, and recessed end panels that include a moulded frieze and base, all set on a moulded base. There are remains of carved decorative drops at the ends. The inscription is clear, although it is spalling away at the bottom of the panel.
