Description
Clothier's House to the former Salmon's Mill at Salmon's Spring Brewery dates from 1593, as indicated by a date on the fireplace, and 1607, marked on the door. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed rubble and features a pitched stone roof. It has paired ashlar chimneys set diagonally and consists of two storeys with attics and a basement on the west side. There is a string course above the ground floor, and the structure is L-shaped with a projecting three-storey porch. The windows are mullion and transom style, complete with drip moulds, and each range is topped with a gable that includes an attic window. To the south, there is a one-storey extension made of hammer-dressed rubble, also with a pitched stone roof and a coped gable. Inside, there are 16th and 17th century panelled partitions on both floors, along with early 18th century wainscotting in the staircase area.
